A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Live Oak Tree

This full-length play is a children's Valentine's Day special.

The protagonist, Beau, is a new student at this one-room schoolhouse

The setting is in the Southeastern US back in the early 1970s

A girl from his old school, Peanuts, is also attending

After several incidences of Beau getting into trouble at the new school, Peanuts refuses to associate with him anymore

He asks her when she would allow him to get back with her again, and if she would tie a yellow ribbon around a huge live oak tree known by the students as the kissing tree to let him know she was willing

The school villains are referred to by the students as YaHoos and Flea-backs

These students don't like Beau from his first day there

They have it out for him, and wind-up kidnapping Peanuts in an effort to hurt his feelings

The class-witch named Donna Darlin, scries into a stump hole filled with water

She tells Beau where Peanuts is and what he must do to defeat the YaHoos and the Flea-back and get Peanuts safely returned

In return, he must be Donna's primary partner at the Easter festival dance held at the school on good Friday, however

He agrees to her terms

The play ends with Donna walking down to the kissing tree with Beau

There is a yellow ribbon tied around it

Beau is amazed and walks around it

Donna vanishes when Beau turns his back

Peanuts walks around from the other side to meet him

Beau promises he will never get into trouble again

They both exit the stage with their arms around one another's waists
