Stevie Sprague meets his brother Brett at the prison gates. Brett is holding a coffee table, 'A year's work', he says

None of the family visited Brett the entire time he was away. Based on the controversial stage play by Gordon Graham , The Boys, is a scarifying and unflinching analysis of the violence that lurks in the hear of Australian society

Unemployed, without hope or prospects, Brett's inner resources are drawn from a different well. Returning home from prison, he sets about re-establishing control over his wayward brothers. Stevie has a pregnant girlfriend; Glenn has a job at a rental-car business

Both have been duped by the society that promises everything and delivers nothing. Brett needs to bring them into line, make them see that self-respect cannot be won by rules that were written for doctors, politicians and professional men

Brett needs something - some mutual act - that will break the normal rules and draw them into his game forever
