3 Male 3 Female
During the summer and fall of the presidential election year of 2016, the emotional strain of the political season was played out in a suburban household in Cleveland, Ohio just as it was at every dinner table across America
This 3-Act Play takes place in the fictitious home of a happily married couple, Randy and Debra Mason, where dinner table politics sets the scene for a look back at the campaign season of Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton
A husband and wife at different spectrums of an otherwise harmonious household, find themselves at odds as the drama plays out with Randy supporting Trump and Debra supporting Clinton
Tensions rise in their household as they rise in the air throughout America leading up to the dramatic election
The middle-aged couple in Middle America represent many couples of the time, and are joined by Debra’s mother with her perspective from the World War 2 generation, contrasted by their college-aged son, Mitchell and the views of his formative age group
Through discussions and arguments the family tries to see each other’s point of view as each day reveals another fiery topic, often met with great debate and frustration as they struggle to maintain respect for each other’s opinions
All of this unfolds in the living room in front of the TV and around the dinner table
The topics become very heated at times within the household, as they struggle to hold on to a common sense of decency that they all fear is being lost in the country during the campaign season
The story concludes on election night, when a home that was almost torn apart comes together at a moment that changes America as we know it
