Old Tom has died and his Arctic Institute cannot survive without him

He'd taken out a huge accident insurance policy, and in the event that he dies accidentally, the Institute will benefit greatly

But as he died naturally, the Institute, to which he dedicated his entire life, will surely collapse

The group of old explorers decide that the only way to let Tom die respectfully, and to keep the Institute alive, is to make his death seem an accident

This assignment, combined with the arrival of Ruth Beekman, keeps the octogenarians on their toes, which is not as easy as it used to be, to say the least
