Large Mixed Cast
'When looking at contemporary new writing for young actors to perform, one could be mistaken for thinking that youth drama was a predominantly male pursuit, rather than the other way round" ~ Lucy Kerbel of Tonic Theatre on why she launched the Platform series
Good roles for young female actors are in short supply
In partnership with publisher Nick Hern Books, Tonic Theatre set out to change that by commissioning a series of new plays with mainly or entirely female casts for schools and youth theatre groups to perform
Aimed at addressing gender imbalance and inequality in theatre, Platform comprises big-cast plays with predominantly or all-female casts, written specifically for performance by school, college and youth-theatre groups
The Light Burns Blue by Silva Semerciyan is one of the first three, all of which are available for public performance ....
